Eligibility
Who may apply for funding
Grants from The Burns Family Foundation are intended for organizations eligible to receive charitable funding under the Internal Revenue Code. For-profit entities are not eligible to apply.
Eligible Applicants
- IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charities
- Qualified educational institutions
- Government agencies
- Tribal governments
- Religious organizations where permitted under applicable law
- Other organizations eligible to receive charitable grants under the Internal Revenue Code
Not Eligible
- For-profit businesses
- Political organizations or campaigns
- Individuals requesting personal financial assistance
- Organizations that discriminate unlawfully
- Requests that do not align with the Foundation's charitable mission
Applicants that are not tax-exempt organizations — including for-profit companies and individuals seeking personal assistance — should not submit a grant request.

Application Opens
Organizations submit proposals through the online portal.

Review
Applications are evaluated by the Foundation's Board of Directors based on mission alignment, community impact, organizational capacity, and anticipated outcomes.

Selected organizations receive grant notifications and funding agreements.

Impact
Grant recipients provide updates demonstrating measurable community outcomes and stewardship of awarded funds.
